Funding to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in Cannock Chase

September 19, 2023
The Community Safety Partnership at Cannock Chase Council have received funding from Ben Adams, Police, Fire & Rescue and Crime Commissioner, to tackle crime, anti-social behaviour and community safety concerns in Cannock Chase.

The funding will support community and voluntary groups to address identified concerns in their area, helping local people to build on the work they are already doing to keep their communities safe.

Funding of up to £5k per community group is available.  This will support the design and implementation of innovative projects which focus on ASB and other local community safety priorities, through the Community Change process.

“This money will help to build on our community resilience, through local community safety projects and to address any concerns residents have about crime and anti-social behaviour across the District.  If you are a local community group and want to get involved please get in touch.”

Ben Adams, Police, Fire & Rescue and Crime Commissioner said: “Tackling crime and anti-social behaviour (ASB) are important elements in my Police & Crime Plan, but the police can’t fix community safety on their own – it has to be done in partnership. We need local knowledge not only of where the problems are, but also where the solutions are. We need to work together with local people to deliver these solutions and make a safer Staffordshire.”

This funding is made up of money seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act, which sees money and assets confiscated from criminal seizures and invested in projects designed to improve people’s quality of life.

The Community Change process and the activities of local groups will be overseen and supported by the Community Foundation for Staffordshire (CFS), who will provide a facilitator, paid for from the Fund, to help local residents and voluntary sector groups to work together to make long term change and better local communities.

The deadline for applications is Tuesday 31 October 2023.  For more information please email partnership@cannockchasedc.gov.uk.
