Boost to help rural businesses ‘Succeed and Grow’

May 16, 2025

Staffordshire County Council has launched a new initiative designed to channel support and opportunities to small and micro-businesses across the Staffordshire countryside.

Working with partners, the county council’s ‘Succeed and Grow’ rural business support programme has extended its reach with the appointment of Rural Events Co-Ordinators.

Tasked with delivering a range of activities carefully designed to support business growth in the countryside, the co-ordinators will deliver a package of events including rural pop-up hubs that will showcase the range of expertise and advice available in the county.

The scheme will also include one-to-one drop-in sessions working with business specialists to provide specific support on topics including finance, marketing and funding.

A county council spokesperson said: “Almost four-fifths of Staffordshire is rural and output from that area accounts for more than half of the county’s economic activity.

“Therefore, it’s vital we recognise and support the diversity of the rural economy, and this initiative will help underpin conditions that allow our businesses, communities and residents to Succeed and Grow.”

Rural Event Co-Ordinators will travel to rural towns and villages and more remote areas to ensure small businesses can access relevant support.

In the rural areas across Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough, Stafford Borough and South Staffordshire, Succeed and Grow will partner with Rocketeer Enterprise – a team of individuals passionate about supporting entrepreneurship and working collaboratively with public sector clients to positively impact society.

Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce offer a wide range of resources, connections and support, including events, training and business expertise, and will be the scheme partner for rural businesses in the Staffordshire Moorlands, East Staffordshire, Cannock and Lichfield.

Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire Growth Hub and its network of business advisors will also help signpost relevant rural businesses to the initiative, to ensure they can access targeted support to facilitate success and growth.

Succeed and Grow is one of many business and enterprise support schemes provided by Staffordshire County Council, including Start-up and Grow, Staffordshire Business Environment Network and Women in Business.
