East Staffordshire Borough Council launches Boosting Business Programme
September 27, 2023
In August this year, East Staffordshire Borough Council was delighted to launch the Boosting Business Programme, part of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, designed to help local businesses to grow and stimulate the local economy.
The £100,000 fund is open to any existing business in the Borough, as well as residents who are looking to start a business and develop their entrepreneurial skills.
The money available is part of £770,000 investment to support local businesses in East Staffordshire.
New businesses can apply for funding between £500 and £5,000, with existing businesses able to apply for up to £10,000.
Whilst match funding is required, applicants can apply for up to 60% of project costs, with the emphasis being all about growth.
The fund is now open and it is recommended that anyone interested, should contact the Enterprise Team as early as possible as funds will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Council are also pleased to announce the appointment of a new Business Development Officer, Laura Hill, who is responsible for delivering the programme.
Laura said:
“The application process is simple so if you have a project in mind that would enable your business to grow, then go onto the Council’s website where you will find all the criteria and the application forms.
“It’s also exciting that the fund is open to help people start up a new business, as there are lots of skilled people out there that might be thinking of making the jump into self-employment.
If you have a great idea but don’t have access to match funding or are claiming Universal Credit, there are also grants available of up to £1000 where 100% of the project costs could be paid. It really is a great time to kick-start those ambitions”.
Examples of eligible expenditure include:
- ICT equipment
- Web development
- Office equipment
- New technology to support product and process development and/or innovation
- Relocation costs
- Marketing/branding i.e signage, display boards, leaflets, flyers etc
- Design of artwork
- Equipment hire for an exhibition
