Business grants: Staffordshire companies urged to apply for slice of £6m funding
April 12, 2018
Latest business grants news:
Staffordshire businesses have just weeks left to apply for a slice of £6m in grant funding before the deadline in May.
The current funding round of the Business Growth Programme (BGP) opened on Monday, April 9, 2018, and will close on Wednesday, May 2, 2018.
The programme offers business grants of £10k to £167k for existing Small to Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) across Local Enterprise Partnerships in Greater Birmingham and Solihull, Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire and The Marches, subject to criteria.
Although the BGP is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and managed by Birmingham City Council, companies who are interested in business grants can call the Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire Growth Hub’s Business Helpline on 0300 111 8002 for free advice on how to apply.
Nicola Kent, who runs the Growth Hub on behalf of the Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire LEP, said: “The BGP grant is offered to help companies grow and in return we would expect a job to be created for every £10,000 awarded. The business grant cannot pay for the new job, it is there to pay for something that leads to job creation.
“For example: if a business wants to hire more staff but needs to fund a premises expansion to do so; or if a company wants to extend an arm of their business but needs to pay for a new piece of machinery to make this possible.
“Priority will be given to investment-ready projects which can be completed within four months, and the programme is aimed at business to business, rather than business to customer – so it excludes franchises, charities, not-for-profits and retail.”
