Start-up Support from Staffordshire County Council

Staffordshire County Council offers a range of fully funded support programmes to help businesses at different stages of their journey, from starting up to growing an established business.

Start-up Mentoring

Each district and borough in Staffordshire offers face-to-face start-up workshops, where you’ll learn the basics of starting a business. Topics include registering with Companies House, understanding the insurance you’ll need and how to calculate tax.

To book onto a workshop, we’ll need your name, business idea (or business name) and your location. Check out the Eventbrite page to see what is coming up.

Get Started and Grow

This scheme is designed for people who have already set up their business and need additional support.

You could receive a professionally designed website (5–7 pages), branding and logo design, or one-to-one legal advice. You can also access free workshops covering social media, marketing and accountancy.

Eligibility:

You must be based in Staffordshire (excluding Stoke-on-Trent)
Be registered with Companies House or have a UTR number
Have attended a Start-up Workshop

Growth Ladder

Growth Ladder supports businesses that have been trading for between two and five years, offering bespoke one-to-one support to help you grow.

You’ll receive three hours of tailored support to help identify any challenges your business may be facing. This short intervention will provide you with clear actions and a simple plan to support your next stage of growth.

Build and Scale

Build and Scale is for businesses aged between two and five years operating within Staffordshire’s high-growth sectors, including construction, property, trades and professional services.

The programme gives you access to an experienced consultant who will work with you over several months, providing up to eight hours of tailored support to help your business grow.

Growth is measured through improvements in areas such as turnover, profitability, employment, product range and business premises.
