Staffordshire Pottery Barn praises Get Started and Grow support

A family-run Staffordshire pottery business has praised a “fantastic initiative” which provided digital marketing support.
Staffordshire Pottery Barn applied to Staffordshire County Council’s Get Started and Grow scheme for help marketing its curated selection of exquisite fine bone china.
The company, which stocks anything from teacups to dinnerware sets, received support from Concept Communications to set up social media channels for the business and plan content.
An audit of the business’ current position, platforms, customer profiling, brand identity and key touch points highlighted areas for improvement, and the pottery company was given digital marketing objectives, so bosses had a clear idea of how to move forward with their social media strategy.
Samatha Wilcox, of Staffordshire Pottery Barn, said: “It gave me a clear path forward to market my business online and gave me support at a time when I needed it most.
“The ease of application and the support from the council was fantastic. Setting up a business can be very lonely, but suddenly I felt I had support, and the sessions were organised quickly with someone who was extremely knowledgeable.
“I think it’s a fantastic initiative which really supports people at a time when they are starting out and there’s so much to think about.”
The County Council has been supporting start-up businesses via the Get Started and Grow scheme and this has been followed by the Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire Growth Hub’s Achieve and Grow pilot scheme especially for microbusinesses.
