UKRI Funding Offered to Support Future Leaders in Research and Innovation
April 15, 2025
UK-registered organisations can apply for grants to support ambitious research and innovation projects across all sectors.
The Future Leaders Fellowships programme is jointly operated by Innovate UK and the Medical Research Council, with funding provided by UK Research and Innovation. The programme supports early career researchers and innovators, helping organisations attract and retain talent. Fellows will receive at least four years of funding and access to tailored career development opportunities.
Grant requests must be between £100,000 and £3 million. Proposals are invited from all areas of research and innovation, including the arts, humanities, social sciences and the UK’s seven technology families. Multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary projects are also eligible.
Funding levels vary depending on the type of organisation and project. Research organisations may receive 100% of eligible costs, while businesses can receive up to 70% for industrial research and up to 45% for experimental development. Applicants must secure match funding for the remaining project costs.
Applications must be led by a fellow representing a UK-registered business, charitable organisation or other eligible host. Academic research organisations must apply through the UKRI funding service.
Applications for Round 10 of funding will open on 23 June 2025 and close on 5 November 2025.
